The Coming of the Lord 

The Church Is the Bride & Christ Is the Bridegroom

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Bridegroom and the Church is His Bride. The return of the Lord is therefore not only an event we are waiting for; it is the coming of the Bridegroom for a prepared Bride.

Jesus illustrated this in the parable of the ten virgins:

Matthew 25:6 KJV
“And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.”

The wise virgins were prepared when the Bridegroom came. This teaches the Church the importance of being watchful, spiritually prepared, and filled with the Spirit while awaiting the coming of the Lord.

Revelation 19:7 KJV declares:

“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.”

The Church cannot afford to become spiritually asleep, lukewarm, or careless. The Bride must make herself ready for the Bridegroom.

A Church Without Spot or Wrinkle

Jesus is preparing a glorious Church for Himself.

Ephesians 5:25–27 KJV says:

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

This is the Church we desire to be when Jesus returns: holy, sanctified, cleansed by the Word, filled with the Holy Ghost, and prepared for our Bridegroom.

Being without spot, wrinkle, or blemish does not mean that we save ourselves by our own righteousness. It means that Christ is sanctifying and cleansing His Church, and His people must yield themselves to His Word and Spirit.

The Bride Must Remain Spiritually Ready

Revelation warns the Church against becoming spiritually lukewarm.

Revelation 3:19 KJV says:

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”

The last-day Church cannot lose its zeal. We must remain a praying Church, fasting Church, worshipping Church, witnessing Church, holy Church, Spirit-filled Church, and a Church that stands firmly upon the Apostles’ doctrine.

We believe the Holy Ghost is essential to the New Birth and to belonging to Christ.

Romans 8:9 KJV says, “Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

Therefore, we preach the necessity of being born again of water and of the Spirit, as Jesus taught in John 3:5, and receiving the Holy Ghost as demonstrated in the book of Acts.

The Bridegroom Is Coming

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 KJV teaches that the Lord Himself will descend from heaven, the dead in Christ will rise, and those who are alive and remain will be “caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.”

The Church is waiting for her Bridegroom.

Our responsibility is not to predict the day or hour, but to watch, pray, repent, remain filled with the Holy Ghost, walk in holiness, obey the Word, and keep our lamps burning.

Revelation 22:17 KJV beautifully declares:

“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come.”

And the final promise of Jesus remains:

“Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” — Revelation 22:20 KJV

The Bridegroom is coming. The Bride must be ready. We are preparing for the return of Jesus Christ, that He might present unto Himself a glorious Church, without spot, without wrinkle, holy and without blemish.
